They are good skills to know, more importantly to practice. It is good to show procedures in video. Wind dies, shifts offshore, something goes wrong, you need to know this stuff. Another thing I do if the wind shifts offshore and there is much drag is to reduce the pressure in the leading edge to drop wind drag and tow the kite in via side stroke on the water. I always wear an impact vest so I usually don't need the added buoyancy of the kite. Plus, usually you can orally inflate the leading edge up again, partially, if you have to.
