Default Line tangle and kite loops in 40 kts.?

"Bruce crashed in 45knots. His lines tangeled and then got taken by leash. Near death experience..."

The video says he was on a 5 m kite with 40 kts. winds gusting to 55 kts.? Not so sure about that but I wasn't there. It looks like his leash caught around his harness hook, making his lines uneven causing the kite to loop. You have to stare hard to make him out in the distance but he is looping pretty good, claiming to being thrown 15 m into the air as the kite drove on out of control. It doesn't say how he managed to get out of this alive. You generally don't stay conscious and subsequently alive for very long with those sort of high speed impacts against water. Guys have been killed by line tangles, never mind leashes, in far less wind. His solution is to not use a leash in high wind next time. The thing is even without a leash if his kite goes down it is fairly easy to cause a line tangle that could result in something similar again. Kiting has its hazards, high wind kiting far more so. This was shot in Sardinia Bay near Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
