Default Don't Park Your Car Close To Launch

At East Beach, Keep your car lined on the road, yea its cool to have your car right at the water, but your directly in the way of people trying to launch and land. There were two cars parked right next to the palm tree bench yesterday and on a packed day will be very much in the way.

Skyway is pretty much a mess but try and keep your cars away from the water and leave more room for kites on beach.

WRAP YOUR LINES WHEN YOUR NOT FLYING

very good idea...
i remember last year there was a truck to close to the shore line during one of our tropical storms, and a rider lost control, looped his kite and got slammed into a truck... wasnt good......

Also, at backside, Randy has started placing orange cones around launch/landing area. Park far outside the cones... in the grass or along the side trees, but not directly down wind on the beach please. He's trying to reduce risk of injury and allow some room for landing/launching... it's been getting crowded.

I agree 100 per cent with both ideas.
We came to an agreement about the parking and rolling up lines over two years ago through forum discussions and talking it out at EB. I would hate to see the agreement fall to the wayside.

Is this something that is stressed to new riders as they receive lessons?
If not, it probably should be.

Scott,

As part of a 2 hour seminar explained in another post, wrapping lines is covered in the Rules of the Road section no matter where you ride when crowded conditions occured. I will be sure to include parking courtesy as well from here on out.

Cool. Most of us agreed that parking just off the road (same side as we kite) but as far from the water as possible was the best choice. It creates a natural barrier to spectators pulling in any further and creates as large a launching/landing area as possible.

Some insisted on not agreeing on the forum (as is often the case) but in the end we have had a really good system of parking going on for a couple seasons out there at EB.

I am glad Matt mentioned this early, hopefully we can keep on track.
It's no joke having a truck too close to shore out there, especially with that slippery, slimy, sh$% right at the water's edge.

Thanks.

i too was going to post about this..

last season we had a really good system, EVERYONE parked by the road, and there was plenty of room infront of them.

i've been seeing alot of trucks and cars up near the water... i don't see why they need to park so close to the water? not to mention salt waters bad for your car anyways, i like to keep my truck as far away as possible.

Why would anyone park so close anyways?

I usually just back in and stay in line with everyone else.
