North Beach has a big sandbar that extends out quite far. It lines the waves up quite nicely especially on a hard NW cold front. That bar gives some organization to things and gets it started on the outside. Again, epic wave riding for the Gulf on a strong NW.

Big Beach doesn't have the bar, so it is more or less disorganized shore break.

With it being so north, you may not notice much of a difference between the two, however, when the NW is on, I think you will.

Welcome. And yeah, not much riding near Tampa on an East. Gotta get to the other side of the bay as Danny mentioned.
