The fish was knocked out and was laying on my chest.

I was dazed, but was able to relaunch and get back to the beach. Xrays showed a cracked rib and bruised lung.

I suppose there's a punchline in there somewhere and maybe a lesson to be learned, but I don't know what it is. But it is a pretty funny story. Anyone every seen anything like this before?

Many of us have been pelted by fish at one time or another. As rule smaller fish though avoiding piercing or rib fracture. There are a lot of mackerel out there, makes you wonder. There was a case or two of windsurfers getting perforated by needlefish (?) around Bear Cut in Miami a while back. So, what do you do carry a baseball bat, a fish impact vest or ... ?
