FL Representing in N.C. Cold Stroke Classic
I'm competing in the Cold Stroke Classic tomorrow in Wilmington. 36 degrees/28 wind chill at race start time. So remember it could be worse down there in FL! 93 racers pre-registered already. Should be a great race! Look out for the Water Monkey race series this spring in Tampa area. Check out www.coldstrokeclassic.com for more details on tomorrows race. Stay warm!

Nice video thanks for putting it up. The air was 29 F and you did the 7 mile race in shorts!? What strategy did you have in mind aside from staying out of the water? It obviously worked, well done on 4th.

Stay out of water!
Staying out of the 40 degree water was definitely my top priority! I had on wetsuit tights under the shorts, 5 mil booties with two wool socks underneath in trash bags. Up top I had my sock monkey hat and then about 5 layers of dri-fit material on. Could not go outside before the race without shivering! After the first mile I was sweating and my hands loosened up. It was hopefully the coldest race I will ever do!

FL representing big time at Cold Stroke Classic
Good job on the race Chase!
And also congratulations to David Slemp - 2nd place, Helga Goebel (me) -women 2nd place and Mileto Allemand -12th place I have to say that it was an amazing experience. At first, I felt like it was going to be so hard and cold, but when we got in the water, it wasn't so bad, it was just like going to the mountains snowboard or skiing, sometimes you're cold, sometimes you're not..... Here it is some photos. Last edited by HMG; 02-01-2010 at 11:43 AM. |
