Default Wind Today (Tuesday)

Wow. It's blowing 40 right now I think.
Anyone going to rip out a hurricane kite and try to ride today after the rains pass?
I might try to go for a couple hours between class and lab.

Accuweather's new layout looks pretty nice.

Probably Upham beach with my surfboard and 7m Ozone Instinct.
It looks like maybe the rains will end sooner than forecast (? looks like they are trying to pass thru right now?)

It is definitely gusting to 40 out here at the beach. People's alarms are going off due to wind rocking their vehicles. It says gusting to 37 at Skyway (c-cut).

i am in marco but am sick of riding by myself, thinking about heading up to tampa area. Will somebody fill me in on where to go today for waves. I have plenty of experience in these conditions and looking to ride with somebody. I wasn't able to bring a surfboard(my tt will work but strapless is always better) with me so would be interested in renting one for the afternoon.

please give me a shout

didnt know you still had that 7m ozone....

you were right about the 09 roo... definately more lowend power than older models, but much harder to hold down in the high stuff, doesnt have the topend of the 06/07.... almost wish i owned a 7m now....

I drove out to the beach at 10:45. It wasn't all that windy.
I think it is going to rain briefly out there in the next 20 to 30 minutes, then get windy. I will be out at Upham around 3:30 if anyone wants to show up.

Yeah Danny, the newer 9m 'roos have a ton of low end and "lost" some top end. I personally feel that the older 'roos were just plain dangerous at (and past) their top ends and people shouldn't have been on the '06 9m in more than 30 (although I saw it all the time). In those speeds, the kite's shape was severely distorted, and I feel the kite was dangerous for many reasons, one being possible inversion. The other isn't as obvious to some, but accidentally powering it up when near shore, or having a bridle snap could kill when severely overpowered.
So, I sort of feel like the newer 'roos don't let you get in trouble by riding a kite way over it's safe top end, unlike in the past when the option (although not a good one) was possible. Some kites still have this unsafe perceived safety feature of "100% depower", and I think it's lame.

Yep, I still have the '06 7m Ozone and it's still the kite with the sickest top end and gust control I have ever ridden.

Well I think is safe to say that every forecast is wrong today. Been waiting around since 8:30 and nothing over 15. Superskunk!!!!!!!!

Will it happen before sundown is the big question.
