Damo wins the 2011 AWSI Kiteboarder of the Year award tonight at Surf Expo!!! I can't think of a better representative for our sport and all around solid person. Way to go!
 Damien accepts the award before a couple of hundred folks from the kiting industry.  Damo rides in light breeze during the Olympic kiting demonstration in Miami this year.  A GoPro shot in low light, Damo is sponsored by the folks at GoPro so it seemed appropriate to include a shot. How was Damien chosen? The Association of Wind and Water Sports Industries (AWSI) asked the following media to submit their top picks for Kiteboarder of 2011. Many names of kiters worldwide were submitted. Any rider who received a vote from at least two magazines made AWSI's list of a dozen well known international kiters in 2011, see below. The Kiteboarder Magazine, Kiteboarding Magazine, Kiteworld, and SBC Kiteboard Magazine widely advertised on kiting websites worldwide, through reader email lists and ran polls on their websites for readers to vote for their choice for the Rider of the Year. The results from all four media website polls were combined to pick the AWSI Kiteboarder of the Year.
