Default Trip to Hollywood

Hi,
I'll be in FL in the Westin/Hollywood for next week. I'm coming together with two friends who are still beginners. Are there any spots nearby that you guys can recommend that don't require to be able to stay upwind or IKO cert?

Also, wind seems pretty good on monday, but NW. Are there places where you can ride in that wind direction?

In case there's no wind, are there any cable parks in that area?

Most of mainland SE Florida doesn't work in west winds. It is offshore, excessively gusty and hard to keep your kite flying. You typically end up drifting offshore with your kite on the surface, not readily relaunchable. Don't kite offshore winds here in short.

Your best bet for that wind direction would be to arrange for a sea taxi to the Miami Flats if you can through ASM or Miami Kiteboarding. The Flats are close to 7 miles offshore and west winds typically are fine out there. An alternative would be to arrange for a sea taxi out of Islamorada with the Otherside or Sevensports to the Florida Bay Flats.

You are in luck, there is the Ski Rixen cable center at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, FL.

Just for a heads up. Otherside Boardsports in Islamorada, Florida Keys and I am pretty sure Seven only take riders that can stay upwind out to the flats on the bay side in W,NW,N winds. The sandbars and flats on that side aren't good for beginners as they are small and often have a very soft bottom. Lessons are however available with boat support.
