Moving in the Fall...

I am contemplating a move to the Miami area in the fall. I have also started learning how to kiteboard....my question to you guys is, where do you ride, what to look out for, would someone mind showing me the ropes in the area so I don't kill myself/piss people off?

Dont' get me wrong, I'm taking lessons etc, I just want to get the scoop on the area. Also, I was told by a really snotty couple yesterday that if I lived anywhere but Miami proper that I would never have anything to do....true or false? Where do you guys live in the area?
