Default Fatality in strong winds & waves today in Italy

A 37 year old kiter was out in strong wind and waves off of Porto Cesareo in the Ionian Sea of Italy this morning. Hazardous weather was forecast with winds on the order of 30 to 40 mph predicted. Preliminary reports suggest a squall came over, knocked the kiter into the water and waves and at which point may have become tangled in the lines. The uneven lines sent the kite into powered looping dragging the kiter until he drowned, if early reports are accurate.

My sincere regrets go out to the rider's family and friends. It is so soon after the tragedy but strong winds are on currently in many areas including in Florida right now. It is a good time to stop and think about things before just heading out.
