Default Florida Trip, Stay Put Or Do a Grand Tour?

Kiters can have a great time selecting just one destination and having at it there for the entire visit. Alternatively, you can cover a lot of ground and water in several days, a week or more in several parts of Florida. As they say, it's all good with each area unique in different ways. There is a great deal of launch specific info at http://kitebeaches.com/

Wonder about driving distances? Checkout: http://goflorida.about.com/library/b..._distances.htm

Need directions, checkout: http://www.mapquest.com/directions/m...?bCTsettings=1

WHAT do these launches look like? Well there are many surface shots below and no end of good quality satellite images at: http://tinyurl.com/uy9qu

If you are flying into Florida there are many International Airports to choose from, from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach in the SE, to Ft. Myers in the SW, Tampa in the West, Orlando in Central Florida and still more further up the state. Your ultimate destination or tour itinerary should be coordinated with your point of arrival. The following trip is setup with a Miami arrival.

So, if you are planning a visit to Florida and the winds are on why not check out a few spots, there are hundreds of launch area and riding photos below, like ...

Some guys might hit the Keys and Miami and perhaps jet over to the SW coast if strong frontal winds come through.

Alternatively, some might hit the Keys, Miami and range north to Ft. Lauderdale and Delray.

There is some excellent wave riding to be had moving a bit further north to checkout Jupiter and Ft. Pierce.

If you are heading towards Orlando, you might want to grab some great frontal wind action in the Tampa/St. Pete area on the west coast and perhaps hit Cocoa and Ponce Inlet on the east coast.

Some riders may want to checkout Marco, Naples, Sanibel and Tampa Bay/St. Pete. These areas go off in westerly frontal winds.

Heading further north you can have great sessions both east and west, riding in St. Augustine on the east coast and blast across the state to the wide white sandy beaches of the Panhandle in the Panama City, Ft. Walton and Destin areas.

Dice and slice the state as you will, there is a lot of great riding to be had here.

Rick,

Your knowledge of the Florida scene is simply unbelievable and irreplaceable.
I bet at one time you may have known nearly every kiter in the state.
Thanks for all the work on this site that makes the state feel like one continuous launch site, not a bunch of separate areas

Thanks Scott! Many of the people mentioned in the writeup were among the original Area Coordinators for the FKA, so remembering identities is fairly easy. Raul may have it about right with my sometimes poor memory otherwise. Thanks for the leadership you provide not only in the NE but also statewide here and elsewhere.

Florida has about 1200 lineal statute miles of coastline, a huge riding area. Some areas have likely never been explored by kiters as of yet. Great times are in store for riders both home grown and from elsewhere.

It really is one big launch, it is good to get guys together when we can.

Raul, funny stuff. That is what I was implying actually.
Now it's impossible to know every kiter even in the St.Pete area, I bet.
I think you would have to do daily updates!!
