Default Naples Wind at Christmas

Hi All

My Dad moved to Naples, and I will be visiting at Christmas. I was wondering about the wind speeds at that time of year, also the launches and their cooresponding rules. Im coming down from Portland, Oregon any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
George

Naples is a tough call, you need to follow the cold fronts but I've found it to be on the light side most of the time so bring big gear. I actually ship my 16m & Door down and let them live in Naples for the winter and I have yet to ride anything else but I seem to be 100% not in sink with cold fronts

I'm sure Latino will chime in here and check in with Jeff at the "Old Naples Surfshop" he's a kiter and also rents SUP's.

John is right about watching the fronts but I would bring what ever I could to be prepared just in case. The first year I went to St. Pete it was a beautiful day and barely staying upwind on my 15m Fuel. As I was sitting on the beach waiting for the wind to get there, a few locals came down and started setting up 7 & 8 meter kites. I thought that was wierd until the front came in.

for launch, kiteboarders in naples use 18ave s,wind direction sse to west wind
or 7 ave s from west wind to nnw wind

Thanks enrique for the update, looks like that time of year is good. It will be nice to get out of the Pacific NW in December, its our worst month for weather.

Warm Winds
