Default Moving to Sandestin

Im moving to Sandestin, FL in about a month, can anyone tell me what my quiver should contain as far as kitesizes? Where are some of the spots to ride around Sandestin?

Thank you.

Have to confess, I had never heard of Sandestin before. I see it is close to Destin, Ft. Walton Beach, Panama City, those are more familiar. Some riding information on the area appears in the two stickies directly above this post. I would get in touch with Mark Rush at: http://www.emeraldcoastkiteboarding.com/ He knows a great deal about riding in the area and should be able to help you out with the normal quiver size. Wind is quite a bit lighter than is usual in the Gorge as you probably know already. As a rule our wind eases off significantly in the summer months. This year has been somewhat unusual with more than normal westerly winds. Westerly winds work great in the Panhandle so if the trend continues, you should be set.

Hi Kim,
I have a different opinion (of course I weigh in at about 190lb).
Realistically it is very seldom kiting days have winds over 20 kts here. Only when fronts are coming through (maybe on average 3 days/mo and more likely in the winter).
We have lots and lots of 10-15kt days.

We have really good gulf-side and bayside riding depending on wind direction.

I have a 11m and a 17m. I really wish I had a 14m and there are days when its nuking (25kts+) that I wish I had a 9m.

Right now the sea breezes are starting to kick in and I am hoping for lots of 15kt days. By mid July they will be down to 10-12kt days and from mid July thru mid Sept it will be rare riding days (but still some if you can be flexible)

was just there. still learning... the bay side just as you come into ft walton beach from destin as you cross okalosa (?sp) island is a great spot. on shore s-sw blows across narrow island creating flat water but good wind. beach lanch across the road. water is spectacular emerald green! liquid surf & sail were very helpful esp jason.
