Sea of Cortez Mexico, Rocky Point
Pacific Ocean CA, Leo Carillo
Lake Huron MI, Tawas City

Hoping to at the Atlantic this weekend...

This Friday is looking good...what is the best place to check for wind in Lauderdale by the Sea?

I was looking at sailflow Dania Pier...there is one for Fort Lauderdale, but it looks inland.

Also, does forecast usually hold? In MI it is total garbage. Only created to get your hopes up, only to crush you after you take the day off and waste it waiting for the wind...
The ikitesurf station on the Dania Pier isn't a bad indicator of realtime winds. The same station does an OK job for LBTS as well. A bunch of active links and some live images for weather info appear at:

The NWS marine forecast for the area is about the best one I have found for this area. None are perfect of course. It is looking pretty light. At times like that, if it is clear, you can have afternoon thermal winds that don't usually show up in the forecast.

Thanks for all the links, hopefully I'll get some riding in, but if not it's still better than working....

Back in MI now after a great trip, I told you guys I was bringing the wind...

Had an excellent time, was kiteable most days, thanks to all I met! I think next year I may try to come down with only kiters or by myself so my trip can be more dedicated to kiteboarding...of course, maybe I was just really lucky and next time the wind won't blow at all.

Lauderdale by the Sea was an excellent spot, not very crowded, I could usually find a spot to launch my kite and quickly get and stay outside the buoys. I really hope to kite there again, but also wouldn't be surprized if you guys get it banned before I make it back there. For the most part I saw responsible kiting, definitely have some skills, but no good can come from jumping over swimmers and/or spraying them....seriously!

I have never seen so much disregard to bystanders...

Hello Nick,

Glad you had a good trip. Less happy to hear about kiters jumping over bathers. When, where and how often did you see this?

Rick,

I'll send you the details...

Didn't make me angry or offended or anything, just made me concerned for all about future access issues.
