Default Summer trips?

It is still a bit early I know but part of surviving a Florida summer, all that unrequited wind lust, can be a good wind destination trip.

Any folks have plans or ideas for trips to wind destinations this summer?

My family has a family reuinion in Cape Hatteras each year either two weeks or a week before the 4th of July. We have a HUGE family and each year we rent out 2 very large 3-story(plus the stilts) cabins to fit everyone. The family is growing so fast that my girlfriend and I won't even have a room but will have to catch some couch or floor!!! I guess those are the breaks when all of my younger cousins and sibling decide to get married and have kids before me but who is the one having all the fun and NOT changing diapers...???

Since this is my first year riding, I think it will be the best year to date!!! I can't wait, since I got my "widow maker" fixed (8M 2002 fuel courtesy of Chris Moore), I should be able to fly it up there and can't wait!!! The trip is going to be a blast!!!

I'm hoping to make it down to the keys again soon and maybe take a trip up to Georgia or Virginia Beach sometime soon...I'll let you guys know what I have going on!!!

Toby

Toby.. Glad to hear you got the widow maker fixed. I have a family reunion coming up in August. We will be staying in Isle of Palms in S.C.. I checked the area out through the wind archives and it appears the wind will be on the light side during my stay.

You're wrong Chris,

There are NO fronts come thru in summer there however in the middle of july or august they seem to get afternoon thermals somehow

Isle of palms ,SC is a
Beautiful place too, I was there in mid july and wind comes up at 4pm ish
I was on a 12m fully powered

My favorite vacation spot is hood river OR, going for 10 days in end july.
air temp 85, no humidity, water 70, wind 15-35, great town , everybody sails, what more can you ask???

Thanks Big R--

That brightened my day a little bit knowing that I will be on a beach for a week and I might be able to ride.

My dad lives in Milwaukie Oregon.. just a hop/skip from the Gorge. Heading over there in July for a week or so.

Never kited there.. cant wait!

My mom lives about 100 miles away.. but I may fly into Portland, drive down to my mom's house.. pick up her RV and find a place at the Gorge to camp/kite til I cant kite no more.

Toss in a bike in the back of the RV, Park the RV in back of the walmart and you can bike down to the sand spit everyday and kite without paying any rent!!

Maybe I'll see ya down there end of July! Take your 8-10m kites, thats all you'll need!

OOPS!!! Sorry to degrade the name you dubbed it ops: ...widow maker it is... 8)

As for getting a little off topic and talking about kites that are better in local winds, I got my tax check last night and went to pick up the 20.5 M Slingshot Machine that Al has been holding for me for about a month and a half or two months from his friend Mark!!! Got a great deal, $800 complete!!! The kite is also in GREAT shape! Thanks Mark and Al!!! 8)
