SMALL Kites
Met some guys in recent days and said, "got your small kites for the weekend?" They said pretty much no, have 12 m kites. For the record, heading out in 25 to 30 kts., worse gusting to gale force is a real bad idea with a 12 m kite. Even if you can handle it, sort of, in a really strong gust, or if something goes wrong, your margin for error can be way too small.
If you have the experience in similar winds AND an appropriate smaller kite for stronger stuff, go out have fun and be safe. If not, best to sit the higher days out. Current forecasts for the SE: http://fksa.org/showthread.php?p=42739#post42739

No worries, it is well worth emphasizing the point. Some may not take it that seriously, until they are forced to. It isn't that hard to get hurt in this sport, lots of us have done it and more than once. Chop your factor of safety to nothing by rigging too big and get ready to be dropped in it. Folks are getting excited about riding in the Keys. Better rig right for things down there, they usually run 5 kts. more than the SE mainland. Take away waves and you have even more effective kite power. Of course the SE mainland is supposed to be 20 to 25 kts., it was that high tonight btw. Could be more tomorrow. Have a fun, safe weekend!

and it's not fun being so over powered the whole time, there are great deals out there on 2 or 3 year old 7m's, everyone should have one for those 30knot days and hop on a bigger board if you feel under powered. I would love to be in Jupiter this week!

yea Corp Beach is a sick setup, park, rig and go all about 25' from your car but not for the timid. aboves a small-med size day, when it blows for a couple days in a row it can get large, epic NW spot for sure, but you need to be able to handle the cold as it's a winter/Northerly front type location and can be wicked cold.
I hit it good last Feb 30+NW huge waves, 40 degree h2o and mid 30 air, the boys have coolers full of super hot water to stick your hands & feet in between sessions. I love out of control storm surf and look fwd to Jupiter this winter, renting a place there for 3 months, super stoked for warm water

ha...you guys are hardcore...
hey... Billabong has a heated vest coming out next year...and of course Rip Curl's heated wetsuit...I wouldn't even attempt a session like that without some high tech heating!!! I just got a shiver thinking about it
