I don't know Scott. You remember the Skyway run! Although you did beat me on the downwind leg...barely! I think it sounds like good times.

We're stock piling all the necesities and are planning on trying to hold mock races for school riders, at least twice a month, just for fun and to practice. We want to test different race formats, to figure out what will be the best race discipline for competing against other colleges. We have several in mind already.
We could be doing our first one as early as wednesday depending on forecasts, if any riders are interested in some competetive kiting and possibly participating in these then stay tuned under this thread for an update within a day or two. |

so forecast right now are from the south for the remainder of the week, we're gonna be at east beach tomorow with all club members practicing rolling starts between bouys and seeing what works best, we will run both boarder-x beach starts and rolling starts when we do practice races, tomorow we will just practice with starts. This coming weekend if forecasts hold we would like to hold our first race.

East Beach?
EB probably isn't the best place to have a race on a weekend day. The last time we had a day at EB there were 40+ riders and the areas rider population keeps growing very fast so this time I would expect even more riders. I would not expect everyone to just leave the water because a race is being held, that isn't a fair thing to ask. More experienced riders would probably enjoy the challenges of doing the races at more challenging launches anyway.
Maybe the flats area upwind would work but the start would be a sketchy one to say the least. Also, most would need boat access. But I think that especially it is probably best to let newer riders have a place to get up and ride and get some water time in, especially because of the recent comments about newbies not being able to ride backside, how sketchy SW is in general and how non-newbie friendly our good friend the Gulf of Mexico is... Just my 2 cents.

hence our delaying of these events, it was too perfect today to spoil it trying something new, we'll most likely be playing around with two different race formats this week, if your interested reply to this post with a # and myself or mike hall will contact you.
