Real on the Today Show
Earlier this year, Matt Lauer from NBC's Today Show took kiteboarding lessons with Real. Tomorrow, they will have the airing of his lesson and experience. Great!! Let's see how real these Real guys really are!!!

Following the clips, Matt is asked live-
"How did you like it?" Matt says "Uh"... (looks confused) "You wouldn't like to take the 3 day course?" Matt's response.... Hmmff... (head shakes no). |

Yikes. Next quote (just happened)
Matt says- "Three of the worst hours of my life" when Al Roker asked him about it again. |

That's funny, I didn't get a chance to see the clip. Was anybody from Real on the clip, besides the person giving the lesson?

Good. I didn't see the clip, but I am sure Real was making more of an effort to sell kiteboarding to the masses via their logo, while not providing the appropriate level of instruction. Had they told Matt Lauer that he would need to take a couple of lessons to actually make a successful attempt at standing up on the board, then maybe he wouldn't have felt so beat up. If Real was smart, they would have done a few lessons and put together a clip of Matt's progression through them until he was up and riding. Oh well, maybe some other shop who teaches lessons will come up with that!! LOL

I found it thoroughly entertaining. It didn't feel like I was getting "sold" at all, and given the time they gave him, it was a decent piece. It DID make me feel a little better about all the face-smacks i've done over the past couple years. They showed him flying the trainer, talked about body dragging and finally tried to put him on a board with two instructors in the water. Not any mention about safety, but i think the degree of difficulty he portrayed and getting tossed around will possibly steer some people away from buying a kite off ebay and trying to fly it without a lesson. No mention of "water time" or anyone being a zero or hero though. Darn. Ha!
