Matt,
I looked over the cause and it appears that the group is targeting the SUNCRUZ Casino ship out of John's Pass? The company that owns the Cruz line has decided to pull out of John's Pass due to competition with the Seminole Indians. see link: http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/mar...g-cruise-ship/ I'm not sure if the Surfrider group that has organized the protest is aware of this fact. If so, I dont think that the purpose of the protest will be effective if the boat is shutting down its activities here. There are much bigger fish in the sea....Good publicity for the organization sponsoring the protest... |

300 million gallons of Florida waste from flushed toilets, lightly treated and pumped by water utilities into the Ocean each day.
What are we protesting again? |

UPDATE:
I think someone should tell the Surf Rider group that the Casino ship has shut down the operation as of last Wednesday, no boat afloat, Ahoy'mate... Its a good day for a cookout though... |

I think the fact the supposed object of protest won't be there is irrelevant, Gary.
As Tom pointed out, that ship's crap is literally a drop in the bucket compared to the waste in out household flushes and fertilizer/runoff. But, household flushes and runoff are very ubiquitous, making it impossible to swim out to and yell at while in a clown suit. That makes these sources of pollution horrible candidates for a media event, probably even worse candidates than a ship that doesn't show. Last edited by Skyway Scott; 04-01-2008 at 07:26 PM. |

Yes, another will be going out...mine. We are going to be heading offshore on Saturday for some Silver King hunting.
While out there, I'll be sure to ask the boys, after drinking a 1/2 dozen beers or so, not to hang it over the side. Not sure if they'll listen to me but, I'll furnish a bucket just in case. |
