Watersports dealers from all over North, South, Central America and the Caribbean had gathered to see the great new products
being rolled out for 2013 from leading water brands in the world. The Pryde Group is a privately held company with over 3000
employees, operations in more than 40 countries and 40 years in business.
The brands being presented at the Pryde Group dealer meeting included:
Some of the brands of the Pryde Group. New additions this year include NP Waterwear, Imagine Surf, a very complete line of SUP boards and Vela Windsurf,
prime wind destinations in exotic locales.

This is a remarkable location to learn about new products, try them out and discuss things with key representatives of the brands. Pete Cabrinha goes out for a paddle with Mosquito from Brazil.
There was a welcome party and dinner put on at the Morada Bay Beach Cafe. This has been a favorite stop in Islamorada for many years. Outstanding scenery, atmosphere and food complete with a watersports theme throughout.
The sun eases down off Islamorada, life is good!
Starting out the next day with the brand presentations of the gear lineups for 2013 at the Moorings.
Imagine Surf recently joined the Pryde Group bringing some excellent SUP innovations. They are bringing about 20 boards to market this year for all sorts of applications, for cruising calm waters, big wave paddling in, white water paddling in rapids and still more.
The epoxy SUP boards that Imagine produces.
Paula in from a session on a racing shape.
Imagine has a lineup of very durable plastic boards, excellent for rough terrain, rentals and other demanding conditions.
I was particularly impressed by these innovations from Imagine, quick disconnect rollers. These come either singly or paired and can be rapidly clicked into and out of the fin boxes. The best part is the fins click in easily to for rapid tear down and stacking of boards or just easy setup.
Kent setup some pursuit SUP races around the buoys.
Damo captures some pursuit race action.
NP brings some intriguing SUP paddles to market. Building on strong composite fabrication concepts developed over years in windsurfing masts and booms, they are moving out with some light weight, high strength shaped paddle handles with a wide variety of blade sizes.
Grab your weapon of choice, Jeremy a nice SUP paddle and Damo a GoPro on a monopod.
Moving on to Cabrinha kiteboarding gear
Pete Cabrinha carries some boards over to the presentation of the 2013 lineup.
The presentations were given in the upstairs screening room of the bomb-hurricane shelter on the property. Part of an exotic automobile collection is housed on the ground story of the building.
Pete prepares to launch into the presentation of Cabrinha gear for this year in the screening room.
Kites produced by Cabrinha for 2013 including five models ranging from BOW to Hybrid to Bridled "C-kite" shapes. Plus the new Siren line produced for women shown below.

Slashing waves with the Drifter.
Cabrinha is all about details and small, big improvements. These are some of the innovations rowed aboard for 2013. A huge one is the enlarged fillers. These will allow you to pump your kite up both faster and easier. The line manager, a simple aid for keeping your lines untangled and to speed your setup time comes built into each new kite this year.
Cabrinha is bringing quite a few surfboard shapes to kiting this year.
Cabrinha's intro video to the 2013 product line shot in the BVI and Hawaii
Susi Mai presents the Siren kiteboarding line of products from the Baths on Virgin Gorda, BVI. The Siren line has been designed specifically with the needs and preferences of women riders in mind. Guys and girls are far from the same, why should their kite gear be identical? Vive la différence!
Lots of twin tips to go around too, boards for all applications on the water.
The legendary Switchblade is back for 2013 with all the great handling characteristics and then some.
The brand new for 2013 Chaos, a bridled C-kite, quick powered turns and consistent grunt when unhooked.
Cabrinha is bringing back even more improvements in the 2103 control bar, including an IDS rearm aid, improved kite trim adjustment with that ultra clean and uncluttered bar. I am riding the lightwind twin tip weapon for 2013, The Stylus.
Here is a big development for rearming the IDS on your control bar. There is now a locking mechanism that holds the tongue back making rearming a lot easier.
Sending a kite up with a GoPro onboard.
Susi rides carried along by her Siren gear through the BVI.
Cabrinha has prepared a LOT of videos on the 2013 kiteboarding products. Only some of them appear at the link above.
Quite a few more appear on Cabrinha's youtube channel.

Yet one more remarkable sunset in the Florida Keys.
This is just a first look at the dealer meeting and myriad
new products for the water sports marketplace.
More to come, stay tuned ...
Thanks to GoPro cameras for bringing the action home!

Where was the 2013 Cabrinha gear demoed in Islamorada?
I'm heading to Islamorada next month. Where exactly was the 2013 Cabrinha gear demoed when you went in 2012? (Just trying to figure out where to stay vis-a-vis where to kite). Any recommendations you have would be welcome. (already know about whale harbor and anne's beach and have seen aaron osters write up of the various spots on Google)
We had dealer meetings for two years at the Moorings. It is one of the better spots for kiting or even staying in Islamorada. http://themooringsvillage.com It is a bit pricey however. Another place which has a large lot by the seawall to rig and launch/land from is the Islander, http://guyharveyoutpostislamorada.com That is the resort on the ocean side, not the newer one they acquired on the bay side. Another option right beside Whale Harbor is http://www.chesapeake-resort.com/ . You will want to rig, launch and land at Whale Harbor and stay well offshore from the resort so they don't throw you out. Have fun down there.
